WHAT HAPPENED

On the second day of a three-day visit that began in Calgary, President Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Carney signed the 100 Year Partnership Declaration, which sets out their intention to build a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across defence, trade, energy and people-to-people ties. A second joint declaration deepened defence and security cooperation.

Why this matters

A declaration directs; it does not oblige. The signatures created political commitment and a work plan, and every concrete measure of the week arrived as its own separate contract, loan or program.
